Jordan Education Reform Enters Second Stage
Fri, 2010-07-30
The first phase of Supporting Jordan's Education Reform for a Knowledge Economy (SJE) project concluded this week. SJE, which started in 2006, involves elected councils comprising school administrators, students, parents, and local community members who are directed to identify school needs, including professional training on teaching and integrating IT in the classroom. As part of the first phase, 66 councils representing nearly 800 schools were formed, and a total of 9800 teachers, 180 supervisors, and nearly 800 principals were trained. Phase two, which will commence this fall, will encompass 33 education departments and 3000 public schools.
