President Obama Defends U.S. Education Policy

Despite complaints from teachers' unions and civil rights organizations, U.S. President Obama continues to defend the Race to the Top education incentive program, which encourages states to tie teacher pay to student performance. Speaking at the National Urban League this week, Obama stated that "some measure of accountability" is required in classrooms.
