Ewan is recognized as a world authority on new media, social technologies, educational gaming, and effective pedagogies for 21st century learning. He advises on how social media can be harnessed for public service.

I started out as a teacher of French and German--my students and I produced the first podcast from a European school, with a partner school in Poland, and we were the first to introduce blogging for learning in the UK. I’ve also organized system-wide change in classroom practice across one local authority and developed an award-winning online professional development community for foreign language teachers.

I now advise governments, educational systems, and companies around the world on using new technologies--especially social media, gaming, and flexible curricula--to improve organizational learning and knowledge management. My clients include the governments of Scotland, Ireland, and Holland, as well as the Open University, the British Council, and the BBC. I'm also a regular columnist for The Guardian and BBC Learning.

I’m helping educational leaders move toward participating in new technologies, trying new things, listening, and leading—and taking one creative step forward at a time.
